This month’s Challenge was themed “Movement”.
Our Guest Judge was Rita Chu.
Rita is an exhibiting landscape photographer based in St. Louis, Missouri and has a master’s degree in economics from New York University. Her latest body of work, “River Life” captures landscape portraits along the Missouri, Mississippi, and Lower Ozarks rivers in the Midwest region in the USA.
In 2019, “Inner Life,” a collection of flower portraits, was shown at the Emerging Immigrant Artists exhibit at the Missouri History Museum. In 2016, her solo exhibit, “Iceland Journeys,” a landscape series, was shown at the Gallery at the University City Library. From 2014 to 2017, Rita’s photographs of the St. Louis Asian Community were part of the “Missouri Immigrant Experience” exhibit displayed at museums and galleries in Missouri and Washington DC.
In 2015, she was selected as a delegate to the International Photograph Hall of Fame’s Photography Collaborative with Nanjing, China. In 2011, “Quiet Time,” a portrait of a couple in thoughtful respite in Venice, Italy, received the Blue-Ribbon Award from Chesterfield Arts. Her work is in private collections throughout the USA. Rita’s photography is shaped through workshops with Stewart Halperin, Robert Bullivant, and other industry leaders. When she is not paddling down (or sometimes up) an American river, Rita is number-crunching at her day job, flowing at a Pilates studio, and living life with family and friends.
Our next Exhibition of 2025 will be “Powerful Black and White” in July. The opening night is on the 25th of July 2025 and there will be a BYOF BBQ available too. (Bring Your Own Food).
We look forward to seeing you there.
