Glyn Parry is a seasoned photographer from England, now residing in Portugal. He is delighted to be a member of the Algarve Photography Group, where he connects with fellow photographers and shares his experiences. With 16 years of DSLR experience, Glyn continues to learn and grow as a photographer, particularly enjoying the opportunity to engage with the vibrant local photography community.
Having moved to Portugal in 2019, Glyn has owned property in the country for over 20 years. He deeply appreciates the opportunity to live in such a beautiful, safe country and enjoys the chance to interact with the local Portuguese people, of whom he is a big fan. Before settling in Portugal, Glyn lived and worked internationally in Milan, Italy, Scandinavia, Dubai, UAE, and Sydney, Australia. He lived and worked in Italy for the Pirelli Tyre Group and became fluent in Portuguese after moving to Portugal, making him trilingual.
Now retired, Glyn lives in Portugal with his wife, Carol. They have two children, Daniel and Elena, and a delightful grandson, Dougie. A passionate photographer, Glyn has explored a wide range of genres, including portraiture, sports, fashion, architecture, product photography, and landscape photography. He is currently enjoying photographing the Algarve coastline and portraiture.
Glyn earned a photography diploma from the Institute of Photography around 2012 and furthered his studies at a local college in Sydney. Despite his formal education, he believes that hands-on field experience is essential, and he continues to improve and refine his photographic skills.
Having initially shot film with a Pentax and started his digital journey with Canon, Glyn was fortunate to purchase a near-new full-frame Nikon D700 early on. He has since owned a variety of Nikon cameras, including the D750, D4S, D5, and D850, and he owns a wide range of Nikon lenses. While he plans to transition to mirrorless technology in the future, he remains committed to honing his craft with his current gear. Additionally, Glyn owns several Profoto strobes and light shapers, though his initial intention to open a studio in Portugal has not yet come to fruition.
Glyn handles all of his post-processing with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
Glyn looks forward to being an active and supportive member of the Algarve Photographers’ Group, where he continues to grow and contribute to the local photography community. He has also found the club’s monthly photographic competitions, bi-monthly exhibitions, and opportunities to compete for a chance to be featured in Algarve Plus magazine invaluable for further developing his skills and connecting with other photographers.
